Four-time Grammy Award–winning artist Lenny Kravitz stars in the stylized weekly show open for Sunday Night Basketball, NBC’s primetime NBA showcase.
The Northern Lights team partnered with NBC to develop the open from initial animatics through editorial, finishing, and final conform.
The post-NFL debut featuring the Knicks and Lakers drew 4.5 million viewers across NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo, and the late Thunder-Nuggets matchup pulled in 2.9 million viewers to become NBC’s most-watched late primetime NBA game on record. The doubleheader averaged 3.7 million viewers overall, making it the most-watched NBA Sunday night of the regular season since 2002 and the top regular-season game of 2025-26 outside of Christmas Day and opening night.
“I have been a fan of basketball and the NBA since I was a kid. I am happy to be invited to take part with NBC Sports and the NBA, and I celebrate their support of sports, music, and culture. I am looking forward to this special moment.”
